Healthy Blue has awarded Crossroads Mission Avenue a generous grant of $20,000, allowing Crossroads to increase services to individuals and families with food insecurities in Lexington and Kearney. Healthy Blue has a long history of impacting Nebraska families with their dedication to improving lives and promoting healthier communities. How appropriate that they chose to present this compassionate grant during our July Lexington Mobile Food Pantry! Over 300 families from Lexington and Dawson County received food boxes, providing essential staples to help them through the month! The monthly mobile pantry is provided through a Crossroads Mission Avenue partnership with Food Bank for the Heartland.
Crossroads has been serving in Central Nebraska for 39 years now, and in 2022 we are sadly seeing the needs of our neighbors increase dramatically. Housing costs and living expenses are rising rapidly, leaving more people facing food insecurities or worse, being driven into homeless shelters. Providing a nutritious meal meets a basic need that the homeless are not able to provide for themselves. Providing a food box, no questions asked, for our needy neighbors is meeting that basic need as well, bringing relief and hope to those who need it most. Crossroads seeks to benefit our Nebraska communities through expansion of our current food program and by increasing services to individuals with food insecurities. As a non-barrier provider, Crossroads realizes that removing all barriers allows every needy individual to receive food, so that no Nebraska resident goes hungry. Crossroads is grateful to be in a position to help those who need it, but it takes the support of our Nebraska communities to meet those needs. Healthy Blue has stepped up to help meet the basic needs of our neighbors, bringing better health to our communities! Thank you Healthy Blue for this generous grant, and for your ongoing support for those Nebraskans who need it most!
